Elizabeth Collins

As a pushy little blonde kid, I was nicknamed "Sparkle Plenty" by a doting neighbor.  A 3rd generation crafter, I was weaned on the Yellow Daisy Festival and had at my disposal an enormous variety of art and crafts materials.  When as an adult I was looking for a name for my budding business, my sister suggested "Sparkle Plenty".

I studied pottery and sculpture in college and have enjoyed classes in woodcarving, clay portraiture, and throwing as well as handbuilding with clay.  I especially love the feel of natural materials such as wood and clay and the warmth of copper and glass.  Sparkle Plenty creations combine diverse elements to create one of a kind art.  Art pieces incorporate glass or stone beads, natural elements, and copper wire.  A variety of glazing techniques are integrated including Raku, reduction glazes, and melting chunks of glass on to glazed pots.  Functional as well as decorative items are created including bird feeders, bird houses, tiles, plates, bowls vases, and cups.  The sun catchers, wind chimes, and driftwood mobiles combine wood and shells along with natural items, plus glass, handmade clay and metal ephemera.  My yoga practice has inspired a new line of mixed media art called "Inner Peace of Clay".

Sparkle Plenty is the combined effort of the entire family.  Everyone pitches in from cleaning the shop, business details, and pricing and marketing to creating, building displays and babysitting with kids so things get done here.  My family can be counted on for support even if they are mumbling under their breath.
